Personal Information Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam Dewan is a Respiratory Medicine Specialist & Interventional Pulmonologist with over 13 years of clinical experience. He is currently serving at the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest & Hospital (NIDCH), Dhaka. He completed his MD in Pulmonology from Dhaka Medical College under Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) and has served in the Bangladesh Civil Service (Health Cadre) since 2014. Over the course of his career, he has gained broad clinical experience in respiratory medicine, internal medicine, cardiology, emergency medicine, and endocrinology through appointments at several leading government hospitals. He provides evidence-based, compassionate, and patient-centered care for a wide range of respiratory diseases, including asthma, COPD, pneumonia, tuberculosis (TB), bronchiectasis, pleural diseases, interstitial lung diseases (ILD/DPLD), sleep-related breathing disorders, and lung cancer. He has special expertise in bronchoscopy, medical thoracoscopy (pleuroscopy), pleural interventions, and other interventional pulmonary procedures. He is committed to accurate diagnosis, personalized treatment, and educating patients to achieve better long-term respiratory health.
