BMDCA-7328 Senior Consultant (Pediatric Medicine & Pediatric Cardiology)
Prof. (Dr.) Manzoor Hussain is the President of Bangladesh Society of Pediatric Infectious Disease (BSPID). He is presently the Standing Committee members of Asia Pacific Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (ASPID) and as well as of the International Society for Tropical Pediatrics (ISTP). He is Executive Committee Member of South Asia Pediatric Association (SAPA). Prof. (Dr.) Manzoor Hussain is past President of Bangladesh Paediatric Association (BPA) and that of Paediatric Cardiac Society of Bangladesh (PCSB) . He was Standing Committee member of International Pediatric Association (IPA) up-to February 2023 and Asia Pacific Pediatric Association (APPA). He is a former Director & Professor of Paediatric Medicine and Cardiology at the Bangladesh Shishu (Children) Hospital and Institute. He is currently the Senior Consultant at Apollo Clinic and JMI Hospital, Dhaka. After obtaining MBBS (1978) from Dhaka Medical College, he obtained DTM&H from Bangkok School of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (1981), DCH from Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow, UK (1984) and MRCP in Pediatrics from Royal College of Physicians of United Kingdom in February, 1986. Manzoor Hussain became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine, UK in 1991. He obtained Fellowships from all three Royal Colleges of United Kingdom: FRCP (Edinburgh) in 1994, FRCP (Glasgow) in 1998 and FRCP (London) in 1998 and Fellowship of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) in April, 2012. He has also been awarded FCPS by Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons in February, 2012. In terms of professional achievements, he is ranked awardee of “Outstanding Pediatrician Award 2024” by APPA. Other noteworthy awards and distinctions are, he is being included in the “Who’s Who in Asia and the Pacific Nations” and “International Directory of Distinguished Leadership” for his outstanding contributions in contemporary medicine published by the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, UK in 1999 (4th Edition) and American Biographical Institute in 2009 (9th Edition) respectively. Distinctions include being inducted as ‘Top 10 Health Professionals 2007’ in the arena of Paediatric Cardiology & Rheumatology by the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, UK on 21st January, 2008. He has also been listed as ‘Asian Admirable Achievers’; Vol. 1, Page 199. Rifacimento International, New Delhi. Among the many respected awards he has earned for his remarkable impact in Paediatric Medicine and Paediatric Cardiology in Bangladesh, a few that he holds in high regard include the “Atish Diponkar Gold Medal”, “Helen Keller Gold Medal” and “Mirror Health Award”. He has authored six books: in 1989 “Shishu Paricharja (Child Care)”; in 1993 “Shishur Jibon O Shastho (Child Life & Health)”:- both of which are in Bangla and written for mothers. Furthermore In 1993 “Paediatric Diagnostic Approach”; in 2004 “Paediatric Problems”; in 2012 “Pediatric ECG - a basic approach” in 2014 "Pediatric Medicine - a short text book" was published for medical students. He has more than 80 publications in national and international journals. Other significant titles include being Visiting Consultant of International Center For Diarrheal Diseases & Research (ICDDR,B) and Visiting Faculty at Armed Forces Medical College, Dhaka.
