Professor Dr. Md. Shariful Islam is a Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery at Satkhira Medical College & Hospital. He is a General, Endo-Laparoscopic, Colorectal, Cancer & Vascular Surgeon with more than 23 years of professional experience.
He completed his MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, FCPS in Surgery from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons, and MS in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases. He also obtained FACS from the American College of Surgeons, FMAS from the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India, FIAGES and EFIAGES from the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons, and FALS in advanced laparoscopic cancer surgery.
He has extensive experience in general, laparoscopic, colorectal, cancer and vascular surgery. He has received advanced training in laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery in Bangladesh and abroad, including training in China in 2023. More than 30 of his research papers have been published in national and international journals.
