Prof. Dr. Md. Zahid Raihan is one of Bangladesh's distinguished neurosurgeons, renowned for his expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of complex brain and spine disorders. He currently serves as the Additional Director General (Administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Bangladesh, while also holding the position of Professor and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Dhaka Medical College, where he plays a pivotal role in patient care, medical education, and neurosurgical research. After earning his MBBS degree, he completed his MS in Neurosurgery and further advanced his expertise through an Academic Fellowship in Functional Neurosurgery at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. His international training has strengthened his proficiency in modern neurosurgical techniques and evidence-based patient care. Prof. Dr. Raihan specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad spectrum of neurological disorders, including brain tumors, spinal disorders, head injuries, stroke-related neurosurgical conditions, movement disorders, functional neurosurgery, hydrocephalus, and peripheral nerve diseases. He is dedicated to providing advanced, patient-centered neurosurgical care using the latest surgical technologies and minimally invasive techniques whenever appropriate. Alongside his clinical responsibilities, Prof. Dr. Raihan has made significant contributions to neurosurgical education by mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervising neurosurgical trainees, and participating in academic and scientific activities. In his national leadership role at the Directorate General of Health Services, he contributes to healthcare policy, medical administration, and the advancement of Bangladesh's public health system.
