Professor Dr Mohammad Mahmuduzzaman is a senior distinguished Gastroenterologist with nearly three decades of clinical, academic, research and administrative experience in Bangladesh Government Health Services. He has nearly two decades of specialized experience in Gastroenterology, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases. He currently serves as Professor and Head of Medical Gastroenterology Department at National Gastroliver Institute and Hospital, Mohakhali, Dhaka. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: Professor Dr Mohammad Mahmuduzzaman graduating with an MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College under the University of Dhaka in 1993 and earned his MD in Gastroenterology from BIRDEM Academy under Bangladesh Medical University (formerly BSMMU). Earlier he has passed SSC from Faujdarhat Cadet College, Chattogram in 1983 and HSC from Notre Dame College, Dhaka in 1985. He joined Bangladesh Government Health Services in 1997 through 17 th BCS. EXPERTISE IN FOLLOWING PROCEDURES: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Enteroscopy, ERCP with Stone extraction and stenting, Esophageal stenting and Balloon dilatation.SG Dilatation of esophageal stricture, EVL, Sclerotherapy, Clipping, APC. INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS: Professor Mahmuduzzaman has earned prestigious international recognitions, including Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Fellow of the Royal College(FRCP) of Physicians of Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, and Ireland, Fellow of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology(FISG) reflecting his outstanding contribution to medicine and gastroenterology. He is an active member of several renowned international professional organizations. WORKING EXPERIENCE: Since joining in the Government Health Services Professor Mahmuduzzaman has held successive academic appointments as Assistant Registrar, IMO, EMO, Registrar, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor in several prestigious government medical colleges and teaching hospitals of Bangladesh. They are Dhaka Medical College, Dhaka, Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College, Dhaka, Mymensingh Medical College, Mymensingh, Shaheed M.Monsur Ali Medical College, and Sirajganj, Bangladesh. His leadership has significantly strengthened clinical services, postgraduate training, research, and academic excellence in gastroenterology. An accomplished academic, Professor Mahmuduzzaman has authored & co authored 29 peer-reviewed scientific publications and serves as a reviewer for multiple medical journals. A regular participant in major international scientific congresses across Asia, Europe, and Australia, he remains committed to advancing evidence-based gastroenterology, medical education, research, and high-quality patient care, while mentoring the next generation of physicians and specialists.
